Aaron DeHaven

Aaron is a founding member of Catalyst Services. He is an entrepreneur at heart and has started numerous companies, some of which have sold, and some of which are still operating. He began working in the international arena early on, and by the age of 19 was importing and exporting small quantities of goods into and from Brazil and France. By 2007, when Catalyst was formed, Aaron was a seasoned traveler and businessman having lived, worked or visited dozens of countries on 5 continents. Haling from West Virginia, he has a keen sense of loyalty to family and country, a mountaineer’s love of exploration and an independent spirit that is most easily defined as entrepreneurial.

Aaron owns or has owned and operated a specialty construction company, a government-contracting construction firm, a production company, and founded a not-for-profit musicians guild and a real-estate company, among other ventures. As a musician, Aaron has played original music all over the world and, for a time, actively toured the USA as a performer, and as amanager of other acts.

In early 2007, Aaron agreed to take on the management of a government construction project and found himself working and living in therestive tribal area between Pakistan and Afghanistan without support from any corporation (other than his own), and outside of any area wherein US military support was possible. Living on the local economy in one of the world’s most dangerous and austere locations gave immediate attention to the needs of everyday life: Where to live? How to eat? How to travel? How to stay safe? None of these things come naturally to a foreigner in any austere location. Nevertheless, the necessity was truly the mother of invention, and Aaron was able to put together a very comfortable living arrangement, hire trusted staff (many of which are still with Catalyst today), acquire suitable vehicles and drivers (most of which were former US Embassy staff drivers) and gain the ability to utilize armed security personnel.

As the area heated up in the War on Terror, more and more contractors working on various projects had the need to come to Pakistan and the Tribal Areas. As one of the first to establish a local-economy-based Life Support system, Aaron was playing frequent host to guests at his compound, all of who were looking for ways to live and work in the region. It finally clicked: Aaron knew how to do this! And Catalyst Services was born. A localentity was formed, as was a headquarters in Dubai, and Catalyst began operating. By 2009, Catalyst had offices in the UAE, Pakistan, Afghanistan, St. Kitts and Nevis, and the USA and operations all over the place. Catalyst was providing services some of the world’s foremost government contracting companies and many of these companies preferred to do business with wholly American companies. So in response to this demand, in mid-2009, Aaron and his partners consolidated all company assets and repatriated the companies HQ to the USA, in Charlotte, NC. This move allowed Aaron to come home to the USA in 2011, after years of living as an expat.

Aaron currently lives in South Carolina, just South of Charlotte, with his wife and three children (triplets!). For love of family, country and company Aaron has enjoyed (and sometimes not so much) a lifetime’s worth of experience- all of which is utilized to promote the interests of the United States and Catalyst’s clients.
