Catalyst Services was founded by Americans who were living in a hostile location, without support, while working under a US Government program. The founding principles on which we began were based on the idea that in order to be secure in adverse locations, one must have more than just walls, guards and guns. The concept of Life Support was born. The founders innovated the concept that “security is a function of life support”, that it is inseparable from it. This is the basic premise under which we operate. Once this concept was innovated, our founders were able to combine this idea with each aspect of what it means to be supported in hostile, adverse or unfamiliar environs.

Rather than performing security work as the primary function, and then thinking about everything else later, we realized that one could not be secure until and unless all components of one’s contact with the location in which one is living have been actualized into a central model. This model incorporates functions of accommodations, the operations and maintenance of facilities, local-national (LN) staff, their retention and pay scales, our contact with LN authorities, what food we eat, and what water we drink. We think about the comfort of our people, how we can be happy, how we can do laundry, how we can travel from place to place- and of course our security. When all aspects of our Life Support are tied together, analyzed and understood as a whole, only then can we truly manage the risks of the environment we are operating in.

Once these concepts were built into our Life Support model, and we began to deliver service to our clients, it became apparent almost immediately that our clients also must be prepared for what they are going to encounter in these locations. So once we were immersed in the local environment, it was a simple move to begin to provide the necessary services to our clients in order to prepare them for their journey. This process began with providing Corporate Services such as sponsorship and visa services, office space, access passes to secure sites, payroll services to comply with mandatory local-payment laws and several other complementary services.

As more and more clients began utilizing our services, we also began to take stock of how the environment, inclusive our clients’ customers, affected the work, health and happiness of our clients and how we could improve these aspects of our client’s daily life. Catalyst’s Training and Consultancy Programs were born. The goal of these services is to allow our clients to receive the necessary training prior to and during their deployment in order to adequately meet the demands of the environment. These services, such as Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) and our Cultural Awareness courses allowed our clients and partners to be truly prepared for what they were about to encounter. We also began to provide expert consultancy products and services in order to help our clients perform both front end (client-side service subcontracting) and back-end services (to internal business groups such as site security surveys). This aspect of our work has developed into a distinct business group allowing us to take on many different project types for diverse clientele.

As the years went by, we continued to develop large information networks in all of the locations in which we work. Once we realized that our clients also needed information from these networks, it was a natural step to deliver this information to our clients in concise, organized packages. Thus our Information Services program was developed to allow our clients to further benefit from the available data that we have been collecting for our internal uses. This information ranges from market-entry consultancy and market surveys to hostile threat information, risk analysis and investigatory services and reporting.

Our company prides itself on being small, fast moving, and preempting and responsive to the needs of our clients. This is because when we started out, we were only serving ourselves- and we knew what we needed! This is why we are confident that we can provide for the needs of our clients, no matter the location. And because of our long-term immersion in the local national economies in which we work, our services are delivered at costs that are not bearing the weight of multiple tiers of subcontractors or us paying the ‘foreigner price’ to our local-national suppliers.

Our Life Support model works. Contact Us to find out how we can live up to our tag line: Innovating Solutions, Redefining Possibilities- because at the most basic level, that’s all we do!(fluid)
